FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER

In celebration of the bicentennial of Mary Shelley's literary masterpiece, Blok4 proudly unveils this stunning life-size statue of one of the most iconic creatures in cinematic history: Frankenstein’s Monster, as immortalized by Boris Karloff in Universal’s Frankenstein (1931).

This faithful recreation captures the haunting essence of Karloff’s legendary portrayal—equal parts tragedy and terror—rendered with hyper-realistic precision and historical reverence. Every detail is built from extensive research into the original production, including hours of film study and archival stills, to ensure absolute accuracy.

Screen-Accurate Costume Construction

The monster’s suit was painstakingly patterned and tailored by hand, using wool of the same weave and weight common to the late 1920s. Cut with period-correct lines, the ensemble features authentic stitching and fit, with subtle distressing that reflects the Monster’s weathered, world-worn journey. The black cotton undershirt is era-appropriate, completing the look from neckline to boot heel.

Massive Suede Boots

No detail was spared below the knees either—his towering size 14 boots have been sculpted and finished with suede, replicating the thick, functional footwear Karloff wore on set. The exaggerated proportions contribute to the figure’s lumbering silhouette and dramatic screen presence.

Iconic Sculpt & Display

The face sculpt is a chilling likeness of Karloff himself—his heavy brow, deep-set eyes, and solemn, stitched expression all frozen in resin and silicone. Electrodes, subtle skin textures, and period-correct hair finishing elevate the figure from prop to portrait. He stands upon a custom stone-textured display base, complete with a bronze-style plaque reading:
“FRANKENSTEIN – The Monster – Boris Karloff – 1931”

This piece is more than a statue—it is a cinematic resurrection, merging literary legacy, Hollywood history, and Blok4’s commitment to craftsmanship into one unforgettable tribute to the creature who has haunted, inspired, and moved audiences for generations.

FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER

BUILD PROCESS - INFO

The costume research for ‘Frankenstein’ is the result of hundreds of hours studying the lines and fit of the classic 1931 film and production stills. This collectible classic is a true to form vision of the constructed suit, including visual cuts and patterns that were common in the era of the late 1920s.

The suit is first masterfully tailored and patterned, then each one cut out by hand. They are 100% authentic, with the correct weight and weave of wool. The black cotton t-shirt is also correct for the era. The suit is ‘distressed’ to mimic the aged and weathered look of Frankenstein’s monster.

Frankenstein’s monster’s knee-high boots, constructed by hand in a massive size 14, are covered in suede to stay true to their original origins.
