Kelly Mark Delcambre - Art Director
Kelly has spent the last 17 years of his life educating his lifelong passions with all things Sci-Fi, Horror, Fantasy and Superhero. He specializes in two key areas; film and television prop and costume restoration and presentation, and 1:1 life size scale themed statues and environments.
“I’m am original Monster kid. I was a kid hiding under the bed sheets with my flashlight and a copy of “Famous Monsters” or Star-log, magazine fueling my imagination with ideas and images. I want to preserve all those moments from the past so that future generations can enjoy them. What pop culture gave to me, I want to give back”
On the restoration front, Kelly focuses on the sixties, seventies and eighties. Some of his proudest accomplishments include the hero mermaid tail from the Tom Hanks hit “Splash,” Michelle Pfeiffer’s Cat-woman costume from 1992’s “Batman Returns,” Michael Keaton’s 1989 Batman suit and cowl, the bat puppet featured in the 1985 horror classic “Fright Night,” and a set of otherworldly alien costumes worn by children in the climactic end sequence in Stephen Spielberg's “Close Encounters of The Third Kind.”
Some of the highlights in Kelly’s life sized career of themed statues include Boris Karloff’s Frankenstein which accompanied a full sized recreation set of a section of the Universal Studios backlot where the creature made his cinematic debut. Claude Rains’ The Invisible Man, The Martian from the 1953 classic “War of The Worlds,” the creature from “Return of the Fly,” and last but certainly not least, the Gorgon Medusa from the 1981 fan favorite, “Clash of the Titans.”
Kelly relies on his versatile and diverse skill set when forging one of his creations, be it a 1 to 1 display or the restoration of a piece of movie history. Known as a jack-of-all-trades to his peers, Kelly excels at sculpting, fabric textiles, painting, hair laying, costume fabrication, production of themed bases and environments, and sculpting body language forms from scratch.
His works can be seen at The Prop-store of London and Los Angeles, American Heritage Auction House, Julien's Auction House, The Hero Prop exhibit in Las Vegas, Icons of Darkness in Hollywood, and The Hollywood Museum on Highland and Hollywood blvd.
Despite the breadth and depth of his experience, there still remain some bucket list items for Kelly. He hopes to build or restore some characters from 1963 “The Outer Limits” series, and perhaps end his career with the 18 foot Cyclops from “The Golden Voyage of Sinbad.” He considers that a good note to end on, and would happily retire after the completion of that one eye fellow.
Kelly is excited to be working with the talented, seasoned artists at Blok4, and all the opportunities this new partnership will present.
